I always have this little voice in the back of my head saying, “Are you sure about that, Jen?”
I know that schedules are such that there often time is not much of another choice. So I pack my bag, hop in the car and say a hopeful prayer.
My husband always tells me I am an optimist (he claims to be the realist). I envision every photo sessions with golden light, smiles and warmth. Even the ones in mid-January (yikes).
When couples schedule engagements for the winter I know that it’s going to be overcast and cold. Noses will be red and eyes will water when the wind blows. Especial in College Station. Texas can be so unpredictable for Engagement Photos!
Some how, Kendall and Shinji completely lucked out. It was around 65 degrees, sunny and we even found few spots that had green left. WOW!
Kendall + Sinji – Where to begin? Kendall, I honestly feel like you’re a little sister and to see you with a sweet, strong, funny and encouraging man of God makes me SO (I can’t make the SO much bigger) happy! I’m not sure who was more lucky, you or Josie (hehe, you’re both pretty awesome), to find such an amazing roommate for college! Shinji, you have a long road ahead of you with school but I know from the short time we spent together you are more than prepared. You have a wonderful woman that loves you (and thinks you’re hilarious) and will stand by your side through the years.
How did Kendall and Shiji meet?
We met the first day of my fall semester of PA school…Shinji was the TA in my anatomy lab ???? I had a gut feeling about him, so I started praying. Sure enough, Shinji was at the same CMA (Christian Medical Association) meeting that I went to that very next night.. he was leading it!
The Proposal!
Christmas morning ???? After opening presents with my parents, brothers and I in my parents’ living room, Shinji said he had one last present for our white lab puppy. He pulled a tag out of his pocket and put what I thought was a name tag on Riley. I took a closer look and it was a little red heart that read “Kendall, he has something to ask you, look at the tree!”. Shakily, I walked over to our Christmas tree and saw an ornament that said to read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 aloud. Shinji handed me his bible (I couldn’t find 1st Corinthians with all of my nerves), so he helped me. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of the people I love most. It was the absolute sweetest.
Their first date.
He knocked on my door (I was nervous out of my mind), opened his car door for me, then took me to a little hamburger joint in downtown Galveston to watch the Astros game. We ended up talking for hours and didn’t watch one bit of the game. Then when he took me home, he embraced me in this hug for (not exaggerating) about 2 hours. I knew I wanted him around.
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in the world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:16-19
