I can’t tell you how excited I was to get an email from my friend Shelby to tell me that, she and Sean were engaged. I met Shelby through my dear friend Morgan. Morgan and I have known each other for years, growing up together in San Antonio. She met Shelby while at Baylor University and they became good friends. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to learn she was engaged to an amazing and funny guy and that….she wanted me to be a part of her big day! What an honor! I’d soon be headed to the lake to shoot her Lake Travis wedding at Lakeway Resort and Spa near Austin, TX.

Shelby and Sean met years ago playing kickball and have had some fun adventures. The wedding was set on the cliffs of Lake Travis overlooking the beautiful Texas Hill Country and of course, the lake. Although the weekend was slated for heavy rainthe wholetime, Saturday turned out to be perfect. However, we did get a little storm after the ceremony and by little I mean winds up to 60 mph and larger than GOLF BALL sized hail. We sort of felt like we were in the midst of a lakeside hurricane. Watching tree branches snap like twigs and seeing the hail pile up like snow drifts. But like all good Texas Thunderstorms it came and went in about 20 minutes and the excitement turned back to the dance floor.

Thisleads me into some of the best dancing entertainment I’ve come across in my photography career. Since I knew a few of the guests already I was well aware of the talent that would be present. What I was unprepared for was the groom. True to form, Sean busted out some moves I’ve only seen in Step It Up (Step It Up 1-9 of course!) Spinning on his head, guys doing the worm and interpretive dance preformed by bridesmaids and the bride was just a small taste of the evenings skill level! Needless to say, there was not a dull moment at this Lake Travis Wedding. I enjoyed every minute of it including the torrential downpour!
