Kook-Off for Kids
A couple of weeks ago, the Texas A&M Greek Life hosted their second annual cook-off and bake-off to benefit the Brazos Valley Food Bank, called Kook-off for Kids.
The cook-off was open to any Texas A&M organization that wanted to compete in the cook-offor bake-off, and anybody was welcome on the day of to sample food from all of the participating teams! The entrance fee was $5 and the money raised was donated to the Backpack Programwhich provides “ready-to-eat/child-friendly foods in a backpack toat-risk childrenat designated sites each week during the school year so that they have enough food to eat over the weekend.”
The food and baked goods were judged by special judges from the Bryan/College Station community. Icreated a bake-off team with my sorority sisters and made a total of TEN pecan pies! We spent hours in Jen’s kitchen (thank you Jen for trusting us not to burn down your house) and the pies were absolutely delicious. The pie is quick and easy to make, but the most time consuming part for us was that each slice of pie had to be individually wrapped. Our hard work sure paid off though because our pecan pie won second place!
Pecan Pie Recipe

1 cup pecans (chopped)
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 45 minutes! It is ready when toothpick comes out clean.
