Community Over Competition; the other day we made it happen. I got together with three other photographers in our area just to hang out.
Why Don’t we do this every month?
Sitting on the back patio of a little sandwich shop south of town we all plopped down for coffee.
We’re all so different but so alike and you know what. It felt so good to sit and share.
Once I decided to drop the, “I got it all together” facade and share what was really going on in my life/business I got a lot of, “same here”s and “Me too”s.
Do you know how good it feels to know you’re not alone?
Um, it feels pretty dang good.
Of course we all started sharing and brainstorming. We chose to drop the guard and just be friends. We just to support and not try to take advantage.
I know it’s so easy to get caught up in your own world. Being a business owner, a mama, a professional, dropping kids off, picking kids up, planning dinner.
But it can be refreshing and critical to stop and share your life with another. Let them share theirs and just be part of a community.
It’s one of those Karma things (I don’t really believe in Karma but if I did, I’d say it’s worth it to do your part!) To give good.
Where is there a spot in your life you can stop and share. A place you think you may be all alone in or maybe even embarrassed because you think you should have it all together?
I dare you to share and share not to get something but to give something. To give peace to someone else that is going through that same thing and is scared to share. To remind others we’re not alone!
