If you’ve ever planned a baby shower, bachelorette party, wedding or pretty much any event in the world, you’ve also probably checked out etsy or another card printing website. I know I have. I go into my planning endeavor with an idea in mind. I have a theme, colors, and style I’d like to portray.
A party or event starts with the invitation but as you and I both know, it does not stop there!
I typically end up surfing the web for, on average, 2 hours just for the invites! Yikes! Why not start of with just being able to tell someone what it is you’re looking for and have them find it for your? Or make it for you!
That’s exactly what Kelley of Kelley Cummins Design does! She’s a graphic designer. I’ve asked her to share a little with us about creating you own custom designs!
Hi there! I am Kelley of Kelley Cummins Design. I am so glad Jen asked me to guest post on her blog today! I love collaborating with photographers because so many times photography is such an integral part of many of my designs. I also think that at the root of both photography and design there is the same idea- celebrating life.
I don’t know about you, but I love parties and any chance to get together with the people I love. To eat, drink, laugh, celebrate, and share life together is just the best thing. This is the main reason why I love designing invitations and cards- they bring people together.
What a great feeling- opening up your mailbox to see a invitation to your college roommate’s wedding, or a Christmas card from your friend who lives across the country, or an invitation for a party under the stars in your neighbor’s backyard…I just love that moment. And I believe it is at that moment that the celebrating actually begins.
It is such a privilege for me to be a part of that moment for my clients, and my goal is for my designs to reflect the beauty and excitement of those friendships that are being celebrated. I believe this is best accomplished with great quality paper, artistic design, and personal contact with a designer who is passionate about creating a design to be exactly what you are envisioning.
I will be the first to say that there are plenty of events that store-bought or DIY cards are perfect for. But it is for the times of celebration that are just a little more special where something more is needed. This is where custom design comes in.
When you purchase a custom designed invitation or card you are guaranteed a high quality piece that has been tailored to your style and event. Colors, fonts, wording, layout, size, shape, etc. are all choices you have a say in. Custom design brings a cohesive beauty to your event because it has been created to reflect your vision.
Yes, many times custom designed pieces are a little more expensive than what you would find in a big box store, but in purchasing a customized piece you are paying for complete personalization, unique one-of-a-kind designs, high quality printing and paper, and the opportunity to work directly with the designer who can provide a level of attention and service that a big company never can.
So if you are looking for something that is fresh, personal, beautiful and just “fits”, consider custom! Most of us (custom designers) can be found on the world wide web at a little place called www.etsy.com. My shop is kelleycumminsdesign.etsy.com or I can be contacted directly by kelleymcummins@gmail.com. I would love to be a part of your celebration!
